Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing our website at bettercleaningcompany.ca, requesting a quote, or using our residential cleaning services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and all applicable laws and regulations in Ontario, Canada.
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not use our services. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who does not comply with these Terms.
2. Services Description
Better Cleaning Company provides professional residential cleaning services in Barrie, Ontario, Canada, and select surrounding areas. Our services include:
- Deep clean: Initial comprehensive cleaning covering all surfaces, inside appliances, baseboards, light fixtures, and detailed scrubbing
- Recurring cleaning: Regular maintenance cleanings available weekly, biweekly, or monthly
- Add-on services: Inside fridge cleaning, inside oven cleaning, interior window cleaning, laundry folding, and other custom requests (subject to availability and pricing)
All services are performed by independent cleaning professionals who are vetted, trained, fully insured, and WSIB-covered by Better Cleaning Company.
3. Quotes and Pricing
Estimation basis: Quotes provided through our online calculator are estimates based on the information you provide, including home size, number of bedrooms/bathrooms, frequency, pets, and add-on services.
Pricing adjustments: Final pricing may be adjusted after an initial assessment if the actual conditions differ significantly from what was described (e.g., significantly more clutter, deeper cleaning requirements, accessibility issues). We will communicate any pricing changes before performing the service, and you may cancel without penalty if you do not accept the revised quote.
Currency and taxes: All prices are displayed in Canadian dollars (CAD) and exclude Harmonized Sales Tax (HST). HST at 13% is added at checkout and shown as a separate line item before you pay.
Discount and promotions: Promotional offers and discounts are valid as stated at the time of booking and cannot be combined unless explicitly permitted.
4. Booking and Scheduling
Quote request: When you submit a quote request through our website, you authorize us to contact you by email, phone, or SMS to discuss your cleaning needs.
Booking confirmation: After you accept a quote, we will confirm a specific date and time for your first cleaning. Your appointment is confirmed once both you and Better Cleaning Company have agreed to the date and time. You will receive a confirmation via email and SMS.
Service area verification: We service Barrie, Ontario and select surrounding postal codes. Service availability is determined at the time of booking. If your area is not yet serviced, we will place you on our waitlist and notify you when it becomes available.
Availability: Appointments are subject to cleaning professional availability. We will do our best to accommodate your preferred dates and times.
5. Payment Terms
Payment method: We accept payment through our secure online payment system powered by Stripe. We accept all major credit cards and debit cards.
Timing: Payment is due at the time of service or as otherwise agreed in writing. For recurring services, your payment method will be automatically charged according to your selected schedule (weekly, biweekly, or monthly).
Payment failures: If a payment fails, we will notify you and attempt to process the payment again within 48 hours. If payment is not received within 7 days of the scheduled charge date, we may pause or cancel your recurring service.
Price in CAD: All payments are processed in Canadian dollars. Your bank may apply currency conversion fees if your account is in another currency.
Invoice: A receipt and invoice will be sent to the email address provided at booking.
6. Cancellation and Rescheduling
Cancellation 24+ hours in advance: If you cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice before the scheduled service, there is no cancellation fee, and you will receive a full refund or credit toward a future service.
Cancellation less than 24 hours in advance: If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours' notice, a cancellation fee of 50% of the scheduled service price applies. This fee covers the cleaning professional's lost earnings.
No-show: If you are not home or do not provide access at the scheduled time and we did not receive cancellation notice before the appointment, you will be charged 100% of the scheduled service price (full charge). A lockout fee may also apply if the cleaning professional travels to your home and cannot gain access.
Company-initiated cancellations: If Better Cleaning Company needs to cancel or reschedule your appointment for any reason (e.g., cleaning professional illness, emergency), we will provide at least 24 hours' notice and work with you to reschedule at no additional cost.

7. Service Quality Guarantee
Satisfaction guarantee: We stand behind the quality of our work. If you are not satisfied with a cleaning, you must report any issues within 24 hours of the service completion. We will review your concern and, if valid, arrange a re-clean of the specific areas at no additional charge.
Re-clean policy: If you are still not satisfied after the re-clean, we will issue a full refund for that service. Refunds will be processed within 5-7 business days.
Reporting issues: Please report any concerns by emailing hello@bettercleaningcompany.ca with photos if applicable.
8. Access to Your Home
Your responsibility: You agree to provide safe, reasonable, and complete access to your home for our cleaning professionals at the scheduled appointment time. This includes:
- Being home or providing a key, access code, or garage opener
- Securing pets in a safe area away from the cleaning team (for their safety and the safety of your pets)
- Removing valuables and personal items from sight
- Ensuring a safe working environment (clear paths, no hazards)
- Providing any special instructions (alarm codes, do-not-touch items, fragile areas)
Lockout fee: If our cleaning professional cannot access your home at the scheduled time and you have not given at least 24 hours' notice of cancellation, a lockout fee of 50% of the scheduled service price applies (minimum $75).
You don't need to be home: Many of our clients provide a key or access code. Our team is fully insured and trained, so your home is secure.
9. Liability and Insurance
Our coverage: Better Cleaning Company carries comprehensive general liability insurance and WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) coverage for all cleaning professionals. We are fully insured and compliant with Ontario workplace safety regulations.
Accidental damage: In the unlikely event of accidental damage to your home or belongings during a cleaning:
- Report within 24 hours: Please contact us within 24 hours of the service with details and photos
- Assessment: We will review the damage and determine liability
- Resolution: If caused by our team, we will arrange repair or replacement up to a reasonable value (typically up to $2,500 per incident)
- Insurance claims: Claims exceeding our standard coverage will be handled through our insurance provider
Not covered: We are not liable for damage to items of extraordinary value (antiques, artwork, jewelry, rare collectibles, etc.) unless you have notified us in advance and we have agreed in writing to special handling procedures.
Limitation of liability: Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service that caused the damage (or up to our insurance coverage limit, whichever is greater). Better Cleaning Company is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
10. Independent Contractors
Cleaning professionals who provide services through Better Cleaning Company are independent contractors, not employees. While we carefully vet, train, and supervise all cleaning professionals to meet our high standards:
- They are responsible for their own taxes, benefits, and equipment (unless otherwise arranged)
- Better Cleaning Company does not control their day-to-day work methods, provided quality standards are met
- Better Cleaning Company facilitates the connection and ensures quality and safety standards
11. User Responsibilities
By using our services, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information when booking
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
- Not use our services for any illegal or unethical purpose
- Not harass, threaten, or abuse our cleaning professionals
- Not attempt to photograph or record our cleaning professionals without consent
- Pay all charges on time as agreed
- Notify us immediately of any safety hazards in your home (e.g., loose flooring, unstable furniture, electrical issues)
12. Intellectual Property
All content on our website and in our communications — including text, images, logos, graphics, software, code, and designs — is the property of Better Cleaning Company and is protected by Canadian copyright law, trademark law, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, transmit, or create derivative works from any content without our prior written permission. You may display and print content for personal, non-commercial use only.
13. Privacy and Data Protection
Your use of our services is governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information in compliance with PIPEDA and CASL.
By booking our services, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.
14. Website Use
You agree not to:
- Access our website in an unauthorized manner
- Transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code
- Engage in automated scraping or data harvesting
- Attempt to breach our security or access control systems
- Engage in any activity that disrupts service for other users
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to our website or services if you violate these Terms.
15. Changes to Services and Terms
We may update these Terms, our services, or our policies from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Effective date".
Your continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not accept the changes, please stop using our services.
16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflicts of law principles.
Any disputes, claims, or actions arising from these Terms or our services will be resolved exclusively in the courts of Ontario. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Ontario courts and waive any objections to venue.
17. Dispute Resolution
Informal resolution: If you have a dispute with Better Cleaning Company, we encourage you to contact us first to attempt an informal resolution:

We will respond to your concern within 5 business days.
Legal action: If informal resolution fails, either party may pursue legal action in the courts of Ontario as described in Section 16.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be severed, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Better Cleaning Company regarding your use of our services. They supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and negotiations.
